Ethical Events
Eco cuisine went Carbon Zero in December 2007
We offset mileage in the delivery and sourcing of food and power used in food production.
I chose to use CO2balance.com because they run their own projects - I support two of these projects :
1) The introduction of a wood (TInners Wood) near Roche, Cornwall
2) Nairobi, Kenya, where solar power is being introduced in place of collecting wood and other materials for cooking on an open fire. This benefits not only from reduction of pollution in the atmosphere but also saves people time in having to walk and find materials for burning and their health from not cooking over open fires.
Another part of my ethical business ethos has led to choices in the produce we use and the presentation of our food - because of this we are able to provide biodegradable, fully compostable plates, bowls, glassware, cutlery and napkins for your event.
Use plates, cups, bowls, cutlery and napkins returning to nature in weeks
- Plates and bowls made from renewable resources (Reed Pulp Fibre) - Returns to nature in weeks when mixed with soil, water or compost - No harsh bleaching (UV Sterilised) - 100% recyclable.
- Plates, bowls, serving trays and baskets made from Areca Palm Leaf - manufactured using no chemicals, 100% natural and comes from renewable / sustainable sources. Have been used to eat/serve food from for thousands of years ! Can be composted along with your food waste.
- Plates, bowls and drinking cups (suitable for hot drinks) made from cassava starch plant fibre and fully compostable and edible !
- Wooden cutlery from sustainable woodlands such as birch, poplar and beech can be composted or burnt
- Napkins made from recycled UK wood pulp - no bleaches are used, hence the soft brown colouring totally biodegradable
- Glassware made from renewable corn starch, known as PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) suitable for all cold drinks and fully biodegradable.
Eco cuisine also offers you organic, biodynamic, fair-trade wines and beers and / or vegetarian/vegan wines
- Tell us the type of wine you would like or we will advise you on wine to eat with your food
Recycling after an event
- If a venue has no recycling facility we will take away recyclable materials from your event and dispose if it in a responsible manner
As a matter of course we

- Use wild, organic, sustainable fish and seafood
- Use British produce whenever possible to avoid food miles
- Consider the re-use and/or recycling of the items we use for each event
- Do not use GM food items
- Do not use intensively farmed produce
- Provide menus stating where the main produce has been sourced
